Ideally, ALS should be aligned with the technological or commercial objectives of the commitment. The wrong direction can have a negative impact on the pricing of deals, the quality of the service delivery and the customer experience. In addition, there are three other classifications: customer-based SLAs, services and several steps. However, this is the case where an agreement on the level of service may take the form of a legal or informal contract or be part of a contract. Thus, a service level contract may be included in a contract, but a contract is not necessarily a service level contract. Many companies prefer SLAs that are not part of the contract itself, as this allows for a simpler review. The goal should be to fairly integrate good practices and requirements that maintain service efficiency and avoid additional costs. Most service providers understand the need for service level agreements with their partners and customers. But creating could be discouraging, as if you don`t know where to start or what to lock up.

In addition to defining performance metrics, an ALS may include a downtime and documentation management plan, as the service provider compensates clients for violations. Service credits are a typical remedy. For example, service providers may provide credits commensurated with the period during which they exceeded the ALS performance guarantee. A service provider may limit performance penalties to a maximum dollar amount to limit the risk. SLAs often include many elements, from the definition of services to the termination of the contract.  In order to ensure rigorous compliance with ALS, these agreements are often designed with specific lines of demarcation and the parties concerned must meet regularly to create an open communication forum. Rewards and penalties that apply to the supplier are often set. Most ALS also leave room for regular (annual) revisions to make changes.  Service availability: The time available to use the service.
This can be measured using the time window, z.B 99.5% availability between hours 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. and more or less availability at other times.
